The combination of professionalism and kindness is outstanding - a fantastic week !

Our family loved the island and the resort, but what/who really makes us determined to return are the staff - absolutely exceptional! We will miss Malolo until our next visit.

Our stay at Malolo Island Resort was the best family holiday we have had. The island is beautiful, the people even more so. Our children had the time of their lives and are very excited to return next year. The country is very stable despite what you read in the newspapers. We never saw anything other than perfect weather and wonderful people. If you stay home because of what the papers say about the political situation, you are missing out on a holiday your family will remember always.
  • Jeff & Sharmaine, Australia - 14 August, 2007
We had a wonderful stay. Staff are very friendly and polite. Ensured our every need was met. Great for snorkelling. A thoroughly enjoyable time and we will certainly be returning some time in the near future.

Wonderful, delicious food serviced by the most courteous and obliging of people. As this is our first time to Fiji we did not know what to expect so when we arrived, we were blown away by all the friendliness of all the staff. We have had such a wonderful time. We will be back and we will tell friends and family about you all. Vinaka.

Leilani’s Spa – very peaceful and serene. Sorted my husband’s back after 2 years of pain! Could stay here for a good few months and not get bored.

Everyone was so wonderful. Room was always tidy, food was delicious and always so fresh, the body wrap was so relaxing (I was in heaven), diving was awesome; we only wish we could be here longer. It was better than we ever dreamt it would be.

Our stay with Malolo Reosrt was most enjoyable. It catered for both families as well as couples. The menus in the restaurants were excellent and the staff were great. We will return!

  • Peter Tyrie, UK - 1 May, 2007
The friendliest and most genuine people we have ever met. If only Fiji was the "planet" earth the world would be a better, safer place. An absolutely brilliant holiday with no cares in the world. A haven of peace and beauty. Strongly recommended and we shall return. God bless Fiji and her people.
  • The Buckle Family, Australia - 30 April, 2007

We recently spent 10 wonderful days at Malolo Island, and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly.

Our family of 5 had a great time and the hospitality of the staff was amazing. The food was some of the best food we have eaten, and we ate a lot. The chef should be complimented for his ability to deliver a delicious menu and the staff for serving it with that beautiful Fijian smile.

Our son Matt has an intellectual disability and at times this makes it difficult for us to go on holidays, but he was looked after more than we could ever have expected. All the staff were great to him and in particular Tuli, Freddy, Judah, Nabou, Miti, Luci, Tima and the girls in Kids Club were really great.

I must say a very special thank you to Al. Al went out of his way to be nice to our family and in particular Matt, who has not stopped asking about Al since we have arrived home. Al is a very special man, and we hope we can return soon to say hello again. Malolo is fortunate to have him on staff.

Thanks once again for a great holiday, and you can be assured we will return.

My wife and I recently decided to take a short break overseas and agreed to travel to Fiji.

Since neither of us had visited Fiji previously, we actively sought information before making a decision.

We eventually agreed to stay at Malolo Island Resort and with some trepidation we traveled to Malolo in early February.  The advice we received was extremely accurate and my wife and I found a resort which allowed us to totally relax and recharge our batteries.

From the moment we stepped onto the island we were met by friendly and gracious staff who made us feel ‘welcome’.   Our accommodation, which was nestled in a natural island backdrop of coconut palms and clear blue water, was clean, spacious and well maintained by the staff.

We have traveled all over the world and we found the quality and presentation of the meals was First Class.  The majority of the other guests we met during our stay confirmed to us that they would be keen to return to the resort – as we would be too!

Congratulations and many thanks to the staff for making our visit both enjoyable and relaxing.  We have no hesitation in recommending the resort to others seeking a real ‘get-away from it all’ experience!

  • Sharon, Stewart, Sarah and Sophie Clark, Australia - 24 January, 2007

I thought I’d write and tell you about a fantastic holiday we had in early December. We had decided to go to Fiji and weren’t really concerned about the coup as we would be far away from Suva and on an Island. We went with another family who had decided on Malolo Island Resort. I was mildly concerned about Sarah and her diet requirements but more concerned about her formula. She had changed from XP Maximum to PKU Express Cooler after the PKU camp so we needed to take 50 with us. This was all our hand luggage allowance plus we needed to take over some food. We weren’t sure what we would be able to get on the Island so I took pasta, flour, egg replacer, milk powder and cracker bread. At the last minute I threw in the international cookbook. We flew out on the Wednesday afternoon flight arriving in Fiji about 7.30pm (Fiji time). I had ticked yes to carrying food and when we came to customs the women asked me to open my carry on bag which was full of coolers, I started to explain about them and she just looked at us and waved us through – that was our first contact – we could have brought in heaps!

We had to stay on the mainland in Nadi for the night so just ordered chips (what else) as they didn’t have a great selection. The next morning we headed off to a shop to stock up on soft drink, nibbles, bread etc. We arrived on Malolo about 4pm that afternoon very hungry as there wasn’t anything for Sarah to eat on the boat going out to the island (and naturally we didn’t eat anything because she couldn’t). We had e-mailed the resort before we went explaining about Sarah and her diet, as best we could so she was very delighted to hear her name called out on arrival. “Bulla Clark family, where is Sarah. Bulla Sarah”. They then proceeded to introduce her to the kitchen staff and told her to just ask for whatever she wanted. This treatment continued all our stay, everywhere we went people would call out “Bulla Sarah” Sophie wasn’t too impressed as she was known as Sarah’s sister. There was a meeting set up with the head chef, Christian from Western Australia. I was able to explain about PKU and the significance of diet, he was most concerned and interested as his son has a severe peanut allergy. I told him that I had brought some food and a cook book along and he said “Give it all to me, do not worry about anything you are here for a holiday and I will look after Sarah”. And that’s what I did.

We all proceeded to have the BEST holiday every. I didn’t worry about what Sarah could eat as Chris presented her each meal with a creation fit for the finest restaurants. Risotto, pasta, pizza, pies, stir fry and pancakes. Of course she had wedges – you cant get away completely from the chips! I had taken cereal over so we only had one breakfast on the last morning and they made pancakes for Sarah. On the Lovo night (Fijian feast) one of the Fijian chef’s came over to our table to walk Sarah through the food on offer, she had to go first (out of everyone on the island) so she could have first pick. On the Mongolian BBQ night a chef came out of the kitchen especially to cook Sarah’s selection of vegetables (with a fresh pan) then went back to the kitchen. We all had to wait. Sarah was treated like a queen and it made our holiday.

Each night at 5.30pm we would gather for happy hour and the girls would sip mocktails while I of course had the real thing, while munching on fried coconut. The girls were neve bored even though there were no TV, radios or clocks. They swam, snorkelled, wind surfed, and kayaked all day. We would visit other Islands to snorkel and swim around. The staff wanted us to feel like part of their family and we really did. As a mother of a PKU child I couldn’t have been happier with the service and the care taken to accommodate Sarah. Christian had told his staff that anything that came from an animal Sarah couldn’t eat. On the night of the Lovo, John was explaining a dish to Sarah – Tapioca balls with caramel sauce, he was saying you cannot have this Sarah and I’m going yes she can. There was much discussion in Fijian between the two staff and John said no unfortunately it has cream in it and Sarah cannot have it. I then said yes she can have a bit of cream. That was how much care they took to stick to the diet. Christian of course had days off when I was a bit on edge like on our last breakfast when I took up some made up milk and asked the chef to cook Sarah’s pancakes, a few minutes out they came light and fluffy and golden brown. Stewart and I took one look at them and said they aren’t Sarah’s. Yes Yes we were told, but no I insisted they couldn’t look that good – I was right, wrong flour – very sorry – back we went for more milk and Sarah finally got her pancakes. Also some of the change of staff weren’t aware of Sarah and when we would ask then to phone the kitchen for Sarah’s food they would look at us as if we were mad until we found a familiar member of staff who could explain. However, these small instances made for a great holiday, just as Fiji time did – nothing happened when you expected it to – everyone is on ‘Fiji time, a little bit before, a little bit after, doesn’t matter’.

When our holiday came to an end Christian asked if I would e-mail him more information on PKU, he was interested but also now has an understanding of another diet to add to his list. We had another reality check on the mainland where we needed to stay another night, nothing except chips for Sarah again, we had it good. I would have no hesitation in recommending Malolo Island resort to any PKU families wanting a PKU stress free holiday. I will treasure my week without the worry of what Sarah would and could eat. Changing to PKU Express Coolers was the best thing Sarah had done, formula wise. Yes they were heavy to carry but they are no fuss and she can drink them cold or room temperature so easy for the plane and for the holiday. If anyone would like more information on our stay on Malolo I would be only too happy to talk just phone or e-mail clarkfamilyx4@bigpond.com

  • Alan & Karen, Australia - 17 August, 2006

Bula to our friends at Malolo.

My husband Alan and I have returned home after spending our best ever holiday with the wonderful people at Malolo Island Fiji.

From the moment we arrived on the jetty to the music, singing and smiling friendly faces of the Malolo Resort staff to the day we left in a torrential rain storm we had an absolute ball.

Our ocean facing Bure was delightful, clean with fresh flowers arranged on the bed and a vase on the coffee table - what a lovely welcoming.

The choice of food we found was first class, the staff wonderful and the facilities excellent.

We haven’t stopped talking about our stay with you and keep looking at the website to make us feel closer!  We’ve been telling our friends how special your island and resort is and we hope to return within the next 12months.

A special thank you to Freddy, Lusia, Pate, Sala and Tash for an unforgettable Kava ceremony. To the ever smiling cook (I don’t know her name sorry), Eddie and all the other restaurant staff, too many to mention, you all made our holiday a such a memorable one.

Alan and I run a home business 7 days a week and work externally too so we rarely have the time to do nothing together – the precious days we had on your island were perfect, snorkeling, kayaking, reading and just relaxing was just what we needed.

      Vinaka vakalevu, ni sa moce

      With fond regards

  • Sam, Dugal, Riley & Camryn, Australia - 8 August, 2006
      Bula Malolo Island,

We have just arrived home back to the cold! We wanted to thank you straight away for our fabulous holiday - we run a 7 days a week business so get very little time off together. As a result our holidays are very important and we couldn't have asked for more! We were very surprised how wonderful all of the staff were - although we had heard this from friends who had travelled to Fiji before but nothing prepared us for it being so true.

You have a very special team on Malolo Island and we hope it never changes. We live on some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia but the beauty of Fiji stunned us - the snorkeling in front of our room was amazing let alone further out on the reef. Our kids loved the holiday too - in fact our son, Riley, has declared that he is coming to live on Malolo Island when he grows up - watch out Bill you have made a friend for life!   Special thanks to Navi for arranging our stay on the way home at Sofitel - it is a remarkable resort and finished off our holiday beautifully - although it has nothing of the Fiji spirit we experienced on Malolo. Thank you to Sala for her sweetness with our daughter who can be shy and to Bill for letting Riley do everything he wanted!

Best wishes to you all - you will be in our hearts for a long time - we will be back in Fiji again!

      Vinaka vakalevu

We visited Malolo Island for our honeymoon in February. We still haven't stopped talking about our brief brush with true paradise.

The accomodations were fabulous- real Fijian feel. You've got the natural beauty of the island (hiking, snorkeling, scuba, kayak); Comfortable, clean (air-conditioned) bures with the beach literally on your doorstep; and staff who are sincerely having fun showing off their beautiful land and culture.

We had done a fair amount of research on the area and places to stay before we went. We knew the landscape was going to be gorgeous, which is why we chose Fiji. But we also wanted to experience going to a completely different part of the world and experience that culture. We didn't want to stay at the Sheraton and get the same service as we would at home, which is why we chose the Mamanuca Islands. After experiencing the boat ride to Malolo island (it is the last stop for the Mamanuca area), and "island hopping tours", it became very obvious that Malolo was the nicest spot in the area.

Malolo is wonderful for couples wanting a getaway from everything (literally), but there were also a few kids around and they were always busy!

World renowned scuba diving and snorkelling is right there. Definitely do the scuba diving if you can, we have never experienced anything like scuba in Fiji! One of us had been diving before, and saw the best there is near Malolo. For one of us, it was the first time diving (and snorkelling!) and the instruction couldn't have been better. I FOUND NEMO!!

We would hands down recommend this place to our best friends if we ever heard they were visiting Fiji. We probably couldn't resist joining them!

  • Kim, Melbourne, Australia - 20 May, 2006
We were on our honeymoon,1st time to Fiji - we loved it, it was different to the mainland I felt less culture but heaps more water sports. We arrived on the afternoon boat,on the jetty we were greeted by singers and guitar players which was wonderful then taken for a drink and a greeting. We had a deluxe oceanview bure with a king size bed wonderful double shower and the best no phone tv radio etc,you are about 10 steps away from the ocean wonderful warm clear water, were swimming and snorkeling at 7.30am pure bliss.

We were on a meal plan and I would have to say we both thought the food was amazing top quality. Breakfast was buffet with everything you could imagine -  fresh fruit, cereal, pancakes, eggs cooked by the chef to your liking.  Lunch we had at the beach bar - lovely pizzas salads etc. Dinner was order from the menu seafood pasta salads etc and sweets were lovely - sticky date pudding, cheesecake etc.  We were given a free couples full body massage for just getting married. It was wonderful and went for 1 hour looking into the rainforest - highly recommend it for anyone.  We went to honeymoon island for 1 hour snorkelling it was fantastic wonderful colorful coral and fish.

The staff were so lovely and friendly BULA everywhere you go.  The bures were very clean good airconditioning and fans.  I could go on forever but I will control myself.  We have been back 2 weeks and talk often about going back.

My advice to you all is go to Malolo - we loved the island, the weather which by the way was 32c lovely blue sunny skys with mild nights. We loved it.

  • Tony Russell, Australia - 15 March, 2006
The General Manager of Malolo Island Resort must be a proud man. The staff of Malolo Island truly made my family's holiday one to remember.

There was not one aspect of our holiday we were disappointed with. The warmth and friendliness from the staff was certainly a highlight of our stay. We could not have asked for more, and even if we did, I am positive that it would have been catered for. The only low point in our holiday was when we boarded tiger 4 for the trip back to the mainland.

I would like to commend the Management for the quality of staff, and this is extended to Maintenance, House Keeping, Bar Staff, Kitchen Staff and to all staff of the Island. My wife and I have travelled throughout the world and we have finally found a place that we would continue to visit time and time again.

I was most impressed with the Executive Chef and how he wandered amongst the guests to ensure that all that could be done was being done, you don't see that very often. Please pass on our gratitude to the Executive Chef for the exceptional quality and display of what can only be called a mouth watering experience each and every day.

Thank you once a again and we look forward to sailing to your jetty soon.
      Vinaka, Tony

  • Gary Ferguson, Australia - 25 February, 2006
Recently my wife and I had the pleasure of being guests at your resort. I thought I should write and tell you how much we enjoyed our brief stay. I have been in the business of supplying furniture to resorts all over Australia and Pacific Islands for the past 30 years and therefore see a large number of your competitors. I have great pleasure in telling you that from "the bottom" up, your resort is doing a great job of making your guests enjoy themselves. We took part in most activities and every staff member we met was most helpful and friendly with it. We felt there was a sincerity in their atitude to help, whatever the task was. The housekeeper, the boatmen, the gardeners, the lady who gave us the snorkel gear, the waitresses in both restaurants, the chef who showed he cared about each meal and finally the lady who was always visible just ensuring that everything was running smoothly ... Luisa.

I congratulate you on a great team and can assure you I will tell all my friends who want a holiday that Malolo is on the map..

      Kind regards,
      Gary Ferguson
